DENTAL IMPLANTS: THE IDEAL SOLUTION TO MISSING TEETH

Dr. Sabharwal • February 6, 2018

When a missing tooth is visible in a patient’s smile, they’re typically embarrassed about their smile. And that is certainly understandable. But some patients may be unaware a missing tooth does more than detract from one’s appearance; it also jeopardizes one’s oral health. I’ll explain why.

Your teeth are rooted in your jawbone. The pressure caused by biting and chewing stimulates the bone and keeps it healthy. When a tooth is lost but not replaced, its underlying bone mass lacks stimulation and begins to break down. To make matters worse, the adjacent teeth, now without support, may shift and even loosen, requiring extraction. Finally, accumulated jawbone loss alters your facial appearance, making you look older than you are.

There is no better solution to missing teeth than dental implants. They look and feel like natural teeth and provide the same healthy stimulation to the jawbone as natural teeth. And, with proper care, implants last a lifetime.

If you need an artificial tooth, or suspect you will, come see me for a free consultation. I’ll be happy to answer all of your questions and let you know if implants are right for you.
