4 THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE GETTING INVISALIGN IN ASHBURN

Dr. Sabharwal • May 17, 2017

When it comes to correcting smiles, many patients avoid seeking treatment because they think they’re going to default to traditional braces. Nowadays, this is simply untrue! Invisalign in Ashburn offers our patients a way to fix your smile without showing the entire world a mouth full of metal brackets and wires. It’s no wonder that Invisalign’s popularity is rising! Our office of Dr. Arman Sabharwal would love to offer Invisalign to everyone that wants it, but the fact remains that this straightening treatment isn’t perfect for everybody. So how do you know if Invisalign is right for you?

WHICH ASPECTS OF YOUR SMILE ARE YOU TRYING TO FIX?

This is probably the most important question you need to ask yourself before considering undergoing the Invisalign clear aligning treatment. If you have very severe orthodontic issues, Invisalign may not be best for you for results that last. As long as your case isn’t super severe, Invisalign can fix these smile imperfections:

  • Crowded teeth
  • Gapped teeth
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Crossbite

HOW OLD ARE YOU?

Invisalign is perfect for our more matured patients like teenagers and professionals. Our older patients enjoy Invisalign because they don’t have to compromise their polished appearance with embarrassing braces. Instead, Invisalign’s transparent clear aligners shift teeth gently and seamlessly. You don’t have to worry about negative effects with dating, unsightly prom pictures, or distracting your workers when the sunlight glints off your metal brackets. On the other hand, children may not be the best candidates because their mouth is constantly developing, changing, and teeth are still growing.

ARE YOU TRULY DEDICATED TO FIXING YOUR SMILE?

Invisalign is one of our easiest straightening treatments, but that doesn’t mean that every patient is as dedicated as the other. This treatment has a great option that many patients love, but this aspect of the Invisalign treatment makes it hard for patients to stay on track: the fact that your clear aligners are removable.

For Invisalign to truly be effective, you must wear the correct aligners for at least 22 hours a day. The only time you should remove them is to eat, drink, or complete your excellent dental care routine at home. In short, if you’re not dedicated to this treatment, then a more permanent solution like traditional braces may be more fitting for you.

HAVE YOU SCHEDULED A CONSULTATION AT OUR OFFICE?

To get a better idea if Invisalign is the best treatment option for you, you may want to take the free Smile Assessment Test. This will take just a few moments of your time to enter a small amount of personal information and your expectations. This can help you determine whether you’re a suitable candidate before your scheduled consultation with your Ashburn dentist.

Meeting with Dr. Sabharwal will ultimately help you move forward with Invisalign or a different option that may be more suited to your lifestyle. This way, your dentist will be able to view your mouth and discuss the corrects you’d wish to make. Contact us to schedule your next available appointment.
